Online Event – A Helping Hand for New Organists
Especially those less experienced or playing keyboard only
Wednesday 21 January 2026 7:00pm
- Do you have limited keyboard experience, but want to accompany worship with increased confidence?
- Are you looking for simple ways to accompany hymns effectively?
- Do you need ideas for simple music for before and after the service?
Join Hugh Morris (RSCM Director) in discussion with Robert Gower (author of Simply Organised, a new volume of 57 hymn tunes made easy to play, and editor of well-regarded volumes of organ music) as they look at simple ideas to elevate church music in smaller settings.
Simply Organised was inspired by Jeanette Cooper's 1987 book Hymn tunes for the Reluctant Organist, the collection of 57 well-known hymns and worship songs offers an introduction to service accompaniment; it arranges the hymn tunes into 3 parts which makes them much easier to play just using hands at a keyboard.
