Online Member Events Programme
 

A new programme of informative presentations and discussions on topics that support Membership to be held on the first Wednesday of the month at 7.00pm. 

Free for our Members, £10.00 per event for non-Members (refundable if you become a Member within a month of the event).

Voice for Life Award Preparation 
 

Wednesday 11 October  

Online via Zoom 

6.30-8.45pm 

The Voice for Life programme includes the option of externally-assessed awards at Bronze, Silver and Gold level. This online event led by Jo Wicks, RSCM Examiner provides support and advice for choir trainers who are currently preparing candidates, or are hoping to in the future. Adult candidates may find the session useful too.

The session will explore all aspects of the syllabus and marking criteria, introduce the resources available to help candidates perform at their best, and cover the practicalities of entering for an exam.

RSCM Celebration Day with Chester Area Festival  
 

Saturday 14 October

Chester Cathedral, St Werburgh Street, Chester CH1 2DY

1.30-6.10pm

Do join us for this very special Come and Sing Evensong event in Chester Cathedral which will also include the presentation of this year’s RSCM Honorary Awards.

Whole choirs, small groups and individuals are all welcome to join the massed voices. This is a fabulous opportunity to sing in this magnificent building with the Cathedral Choir. Music will include the Te Deum in B flat by Charles Villiers Stanford and the King's College Service by Joanna Forbes L’Estrange.

Alternatively, why not join the congregation for this very special service which will start at 5.00pm?

Organ Workshop 

Saturday 9 September

Brecon Cathedral, Cathedral Close, Brecon LD3 9DP

11.00am-1.00pm 

Anyone may attend to play the cathedral organ and receive advice on registration and technique. Open to all standards, and to pianists wishing to learn more about the organ. A demo will precede the workshop. Please indicate which piece you would like to bring. Advance booking is essential.

This is an opportunity to address aspects of organ technique on two fine instruments – an 1872 Bevington (originally in Cluny Castle) and an 1870 Conacher. Topics will include Hymns & Songs, Improvisation, Voluntaries, Registration, Mass Settings and an Introduction to the Pedals.

A Celebration of Dr George McPhee

The RSCM Scotland Triennial Festival returns to Paisley Abbey for a celebration of George McPhee’s 60 years as Director of Music at Paisley Abbey. Includes music by George McPhee, Stanford as well as a commission for the occasion by Peter Nardone. Attendees are requested to purchase the bespoke service book which is available from the RSCM shop.

Come and Play the Llandaff Cathedral Organ 

Saturday 7 October 

Llandaff Cathedral, Cathedral Close, Cardiff CF5 2LA

2.00-5.00pm

This event is open to all. If you’re already an organist, bring a favourite piece – tutors will be available to offer advice about registration, constructive and encouraging feedback. If you’re a pianist, bring a piano piece to try out on the organ or just come along to see how the organ works!
