WELCOME

Today I am delighted to be attending the enthronement of our President, the Archbishop of Canterbury. It marks the start of a new chapter for the Church of England. Yet for all of us, Holy Week and Easter are themselves a time of personal renewal. The music of this season plumbs the depths and scales the heights of human emotion, and we should be deeply thankful for how profoundly it enhances the worship of the Church at this holiest time of year. There is so much for which we can be grateful; and as you read on, I hope you will also sense the optimism that is very much abroad in church music and in the work of the RSCM at present. For your own interest in, and contribution to, this shared endeavour: thank you.

THE CHOIR PROJECT LAUNCH

We have been delighted by the positive response to the announcement of The Choir Project. If you missed the launch presentation, it is still available in the members’ area, where you can join the hundreds who attended live or have watched it since. The list of churches wanting to be involved is already substantial and continues to grow.

There are two things you can do to help right now. First, please share details of the two project staff roles currently being advertised. Second, please bear with us as we begin to get the project properly underway - this is exactly what the new staff will help us to do.

In addition, we are looking for two highly motivated and enthusiastic colleagues, who are passionate about the role music can play in discipleship, to join us as part of the core project team. For more information, visit: www.rscm.org.uk/join-us/work-for-us/

We are delighted to launch this year’s RSCM Festival Service at St Paul's Cathedral.

This special event offers the opportunity to sing choral evensong under the dome of St Paul’s, celebrating the joy of church music and the work of the RSCM. Singers will be directed by Andrew Carwood, Director of Music at St Paul’s, and the music will reflect the theme of Ascensiontide.

Members and non-members of the RSCM are warmly invited to attend. Recipients of the RSCM Gold Award (since January 2025) are also invited to have their award presented during the service if they wish.
