WELCOME
RSCM staff photo

Bringing people together is so important. Each June, the RSCM’s trustees come for an extended meeting in Salisbury; this year there was a shared lunch with the staff team. It builds understanding and commitment to our common goal. (Keep an eye on our website for periodic opportunities to become a trustee, and to find out more about our current staff and Council)

We plan to have more forums for our members to have just this kind of conversation in the future. In the meantime, this newsletter allows you to stay connected. Please read on!

MUSIC SUNDAY 2026
Music Sunday photo

A big thank you to all the churches that marked Music Sunday this year. It is always fascinating to hear what you have been doing, whether within the context of worship or beyond, and to see your posts on social media.

Bringing people together was a strong theme, whether through Come & Sing events such as those at Fordingbridge and St Martin’s Church, Herne, or by gathering singers from different churches and the wider community, as in the Celebration of Sacred Music Making in East Bristol. Songs of Praise, concerts and recitals, and of course coffee and cake, also featured, alongside the awarding of medals, ribbons and surplices.

Please do continue to send reports and photographs to [email protected] so that some can be included in the September issue of Church Music Quarterly.

Finally, why not make a note in the church diary? Music Sunday next year, which will also mark our Centenary, will be celebrated on Sunday 13 June.

HONORARY AWARDS 2026
Honorary awards photo

The RSCM is delighted to announce the recipients of its 2026 Honorary Awards. Each year, the RSCM Council confers Honorary Awards on those who have made outstanding contributions to church music at an international level, as well as those who offer faithful service in more local settings. Recipients come from across the world and across the traditions of church music, reflecting the RSCM’s commitment to enabling the flourishing of church music in diverse communities and contexts.

Hugh Morris said: ‘It is wonderful to mark the achievements of church musicians from across the globe, who represent a wide range of contexts and settings. We honour them and all they have done, and look forward to publicly celebrating their contributions at Celebration Day in September in our ‘home’ city of Salisbury.’

You can read a list of this year’s recipients here and find fuller details in the June issue of CMQ.
